  • Details of Disappearance
Jeramy Burt was last seen on Sunday, February 11, 2007 around 10:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Hervey Street in Boise, Idaho. That night, Jeramy left his daughter in his father’s care while he went to visit a friend to discuss hunting; he had recently purchased a new bow. His father noted that Jeramy showered and put on a nice shirt and Levis before he left around 10:30 p.m.

Burt’s ex-wife received several text messages from his phone in which he indicated he was leaving to start a new life. She texted back and forth with Jeramy, and became suspicious it was not Jeramy texting her. She could not get Jeramy to answer the phone. Upon her return to Boise, she discovered her red Mercury Cougar missing and decided to file a missing persons/stolen car report with Boise PD. It appeared Jeramy did not take any personal possessions with him, other than his cell phone.

His vehicle was found burned several months later in the remote desert in Owhyee County, near the Nevada border. The abandoned car had been burned out. Police say a thorough search of the car didn’t turn up any evidence as to Jeramy’s whereabouts. Investigations and interviews over the years have yielded the same results.

Jeramy, who joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Gulf War, operated Integrity Roofing in Boise. He left behind a 4-year-old daughter and his business. After being reported missing, Burt's disappearance remains suspicious to his family. They say it was completely out of character for him to just up and leave. They find it especially difficult to understand, because according to them he would never abandon his little girl. Jeramy and his wife, Kim, divorced shortly after their child was born. But they remained devoted parents. And they continued to live together off and on up until the time of his disappearance. When Jeramy went missing, he and Kim were living in the same residence along with their daughter and Jeramy’s father, Van Burt. Jeramy was raised in American Falls and graduated from American Falls High School in 1991.

His mother believes the disappearance may be related to Jerams testimony against his divorce attorney. Jeramy secretly taped the attorney in conversations regarding illegal activity that she was involved in, and he testified against her in front of a grand jury. The attorney pleaded guilty to forging a judge’s signature on documents in a custody case, influencing a witness and issuing a check without funds and was subsequently disbarred in the state of Idaho. She was sentenced to one year in the Ada County Jail and 14 years on probation.

Boise police, who have continued investigating Jeramy’s disappearance over the years, say they’ve never been able to find any information leading to his whereabouts. They do consider him an endangered missing person and they believe foul play may be involved.
